ARC's Director of Visualization, Nicolas Polys and Computational Scientist Ayat Mohammed, along with Ashley Johnson, associate professor of practice for Construction Engineering and Management, and Nazila Roofigari-Esfahan, associate professor for building construction, contributed a workshop paper for the 32nd annual IEEE Conference on Virtual Reality and 3D User Interfaces (IEEE VR) in Saint-Malo, France, held in March 2025.

The workshop paper, "The Value of Immersion in Co-present, Collaborative Safety Review," described their ongoing multidisciplinary collaboration as part of the Center for Human-Computer Interaction (CHCI). This project focuses on using Virtual and Augmented Reality to provide cross-platform lab exercises that immerse students in virtual dangerous construction situations where they must identify a number of safety violations.
